Bob Hoffnar and the Mood Illusion

For Things We Wonder: An Interpretation of the Shaggs, our pal Bob Hoffnar gathered some of the most talented musicians in Austin to interpret the fascinating compositions of The Shaggs, as instrumentals. Bob arranged and produced most of the songs, and plays pedal steel guitar. Mike St. Clair arranged one of the songs and plays bass, trombone, and melodica. The vinyl pressing is a collector's item with its original cover, painted by Meriel Macias, evoking the Wiggin family and small-town New England. If the vinyl pressing has not been added to bandcamp yet, contact Brad or Bob to buy a copy.

Mike Nicolai

Mike's a great songwriter and I'm very happy to be associated with this record. We met probably in 2011 when he played at my bar, Skinny's. In recent years we've been hanging out at local play-your-own-vinyl nights in Austin. We've got similar tastes in vinyl, so I knew his record would be a good fit for Rock Tumbler.

Yard Work

Yard Work is Toby (bass), Sean (vocals), Aaron (drums), and David (guitar). They're older guys like me. They've got a sense of humor, and they don't take themselves too seriously. They definitely know how to rock!  My kind of stuff.

The Zoltars

I've admired the Zoltars for years, having bought a couple of their previous records. I booked them for a show at Sam's Town Point, and Jared and I decided to put out their next record on the Rock Tumbler label. We're really proud of it and hope you enjoy it.

Alex Coke

Rock Tumbler was looking for a new project, and Bob Hoffnar (pedal steel guitar player) introduced us to the improvisational work of Austin saxophone/flute legend Alex Coke with his septet: Alex (woodwinds), Bob (steel guitar), Stephen Bidwell (drums), Elaine Barber (harp), Ingebrigt Haker-Flaten and Arjen Gorter (bass), and Michael St. Clair (trombone). The record is a document of a fun afternoon with a small pile of musicians doing what they love to do.

Randy Reynolds

Randy's an old friend who's been involved in lots of projects. If you've spent time in Austin you might've seen Randy in Leatherbag, No Future, and Doctor Club. Check his soundcloud to hear some of those tracks. Randy's is the first record to be released on Rock Tumbler.
